Revista Alergia México — Publication Guidelines

Scope
Revista Alergia México publishes original research articles focused on clinical, experimental, and translational aspects of allergy and immunology. The journal adheres to international standards of scientific publishing and responsible editorial practices, following the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and the EQUATOR Network.

Revista Alergia México only accepts manuscripts submitted directly by the corresponding authors. Submissions through agencies or third parties are not permitted, except for technical assistance provided under the supervision of the corresponding author, who must approve the submission and all related communications.

1. General Information

  • Submission System:
    All manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the journal’s electronic submission system https://revistaalergia.mx/ojs/index.php/ram/about/submissions   in PDF or editable format. Authors acknowledge that the only official channel of communication with the Editorial Committee is through this system. It is the authors’ responsibility to maintain an active and functional email address for communication.

  • Letters to the Editor:
    Letters related to articles published in Revista Alergia México within the last two issues are accepted. Letters may include original data if it strengthens the commentary on the article.

2. Title Page

  • Article Title:
    Should be concise and accurately reflect the study content. Maximum length: 40 characters (including spaces).

  • Author Information:
    Include full names, highest academic degree(s), institutional affiliation(s), and ORCID iDs (recommended). Provide contact email and phone number of the corresponding author.

  • Declarations:

    • Disclaimers: Indicate if opinions expressed are personal and do not represent official positions of institutions or funders.

    • Funding Sources: Clearly specify grants, equipment, medications, or other support received.

  • Word Count and Graphics:
    Indicate total word count excluding abstract, acknowledgments, tables, figures, and references. Specify the number of tables and figures included.

3. Abstract

  • Structured format: Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.

  • Include clinical trial registration number at the end of the abstract, if applicable.

  • When data are deposited in public repositories, provide the unique persistent identifier (e.g., DOI) of the dataset.

4. Introduction

  • Provide relevant background and rationale for the study.

  • Clearly state the objectives or hypotheses.

  • Cite only directly relevant literature without discussing study results.

5. Methods

  • Describe study design, participant selection, procedures, and statistical analyses in sufficient detail for reproducibility.

  • Include a statement confirming ethical approval and informed consent.

  • Specify inclusion and exclusion criteria and characterize the study population using respectful and precise demographic terminology.

  • For animal studies, comply with ARRIVE 2.0 guidelines.

  • Detail any contracted organizations involved in research assistance.

6. Results

  • Present findings clearly and objectively, including effect sizes and statistical significance.

7. Discussion

  • Interpret results within the context of existing literature.

  • Discuss study limitations and possible implications.

8. References

  • Follow the Vancouver citation style.

  • Ensure references are relevant and up-to-date.

9. Image Manipulation

Photographic images published in Alergia México Journal must accurately reflect the original content. Therefore, image manipulation that could mislead readers about the scientific message of the image is not allowed.

We recognize that it is standard practice to use software to improve image clarity and interpretability. However, any modifications must be minor and applied uniformly to the entire image.

Modifications that alter the scientific meaning of an image, whether in specific regions or the whole image, are prohibited. 

Authors are required to disclose all modifications made to images published as figures or uploaded as data in the Methods section, including the name and version of the software used.

The Editorial Team will conduct random checks of figures and data using ImageTwin. In accordance with COPE guidelines, if suspected image manipulation is detected, clarification will be sought from the authors. If the explanation is unsatisfactory, the article will likely be rejected and the authors’ institution may be notified.

 

10. Reporting Standards

To promote transparency, reproducibility, and scientific quality, Alergia México Journal requires that submitted manuscripts adhere to appropriate international reporting guidelines based on study type. These guidelines help ensure that research is thoroughly and clearly described.

We encourage authors to consult the FAIRSharing initiative and the EQUATOR Network website for complete and up-to-date lists of reporting standards for health research.

Specific requirements by study type:

  • Clinical trials: Articles reporting clinical trials must comply with CONSORT guidelines. Authors must include the original trial protocol, a completed CONSORT checklist, and a flow diagram as supporting files to be published with the article. The trial registration number and registration date must appear in the Methods section. Any deviations from the original protocol must be clearly explained in the text.

  • Systematic reviews: Must comply with the PRISMA guidelines. Authors must include a completed PRISMA checklist and flow diagram as supporting files. Study protocols for systematic reviews must follow PRISMA-P, including a PRISMA-P checklist.

  • In vivo animal studies: Must follow the ARRIVE 2.0 guidelines. The ARRIVE Essential 10 must be fully reported in the manuscript, and the full checklist must be uploaded to an online repository as extended data.

 

11. Data Availability

  • Underlying data must be deposited in an approved public repository.

  • Provide repository details, DOI, and license in the Data Availability statement.

12. Anonymity and Double-Blind Review

  • Manuscripts must NOT contain any information that could identify authors (names, initials, affiliations), including in file names.

  • Revista Alergia México employs a double-blind peer review process; therefore, all identifiable information must be removed from the manuscript files.

  • The manuscript must NOT include:

    • Author information

    • Abstracts (to be included separately as per journal format)

    • Footnotes or endnotes

    • Acknowledgments

    • Supplementary electronic material

13. Copyright and Permissions

  • A signed copyright transfer agreement must be submitted upon final acceptance.

  • Authors must obtain and provide evidence of permissions for any copyrighted material used (figures, photographs, images, tables, etc.).

  • The journal may request documentation verifying permissions at any time.
